ADAS calibration in Freiburg
After a windscreen replacement, the camera for lane-keeping, emergency braking and distance control must be recalibrated – otherwise the systems work inaccurately. We calibrate to manufacturer spec, for all makes.
Modern vehicles have a camera behind the windscreen that controls driver-assistance systems (ADAS): lane-keeping, emergency braking, adaptive cruise control and traffic-sign recognition. Even a minimal change in the camera angle – for example after a windscreen replacement – is enough to make these systems react incorrectly.
That's why proper recalibration is required after every windscreen replacement. In Freiburg we do it with professional equipment – statically with calibration boards in the workshop and, where needed, dynamically on a defined test drive.
When you replace your windscreen with us, calibration is part of the service. But you can also have the ADAS calibration done separately – for all common makes and models.

Which systems we calibrate
Front camera / lane-keeping
After replacement or removal, the camera behind the windscreen is precisely aligned to the vehicle so lane-keeping and emergency braking work reliably again.
Emergency braking & distance
Camera- and radar-based systems (e.g. ACC) are calibrated to manufacturer spec so distance measurement and braking work correctly.
Static & dynamic
Depending on the manufacturer we calibrate statically with boards in the workshop or dynamically during a defined test drive – or both.
Your benefits

Frequently asked questions about ADAS calibration
Why is calibration needed after a windscreen replacement?
The assistance-system camera is mounted on the windscreen. When the glass is replaced, the angle shifts slightly – enough for lane-keeping or emergency braking to work inaccurately. Recalibration is therefore required.
What's the difference between static and dynamic calibration?
Static calibration aligns the vehicle in the workshop using special boards. Dynamic calibration is done during a defined test drive. Which method is needed is set by the manufacturer; some models need both.
Is calibration included with a windscreen replacement?
Yes. If you replace the windscreen with us, ADAS calibration is part of the service. It is also available separately.
Does insurance cover calibration?
For a glass claim with comprehensive cover, the necessary calibration is usually part of the settlement. We handle the process with your insurer.
Can I keep driving without calibration?
Not advisable: uncalibrated assistance systems can react incorrectly and are a safety risk. There can also be problems at inspection and with claims.
